Step #2: Purchase the Genomic Test kit from our clinic or have it delivered via express Canada Post

Our clinic uses the Saliva and buccal swab DNA test kit by your Functional Genomic. This test is the most comprehensive tests out there for the price. It is an excellent value. It tests for 260 000 SNP’s (Single nucleotide polymorphisms) in the most important genes related to methylation, DNA repair, antioxidant production (glutathione, SOD, Catalase), Phase I and Phase II detoxifications, neurotransmitter production and degradation, heme cycle, ammonia cycle, allergies (gluten, lactose, mold etc.), nutrients and many more. Samples are sent off to a lab to process, it can take 10 to 12 weeks to for results.

How to take a DNA sample:

Collect one tablespoon of liquid saliva (w/o bubbles) in the tube provided in the kit. Please read the instructions provided in the kit before collecting sample.  Buccal Swab DNA Test Kit – Often recommend for children or adults who are not able to produce enough saliva for the tube collection.

Step #3: Complete a Symptom Survey Questionnaire online.

Step #4: Receive a Personalized Protocol & Review the results of your Genomic Test

Your consultation will last from 1h 30 mins to 2 hours.

Based on your genetic report, symptoms survey, and tests, our certified practitioner, Daksha Patel, B.Sc (Biochemistry), RNCP, will create a personalized protocol. The protocol will include dietary changes, lifestyle adjustments, and targeted supplementation to compensate for the genetic variants to help you achieve your health goals.

I would go over their entire genomic report explaining – which genes have mutations and how those are affecting their day-to-day life and overall wellbeing. During consultation any lifestyle modification, nutritional supplement suggestions and other necessary dietary modification will also be suggested.

For in-person appointment, clients are given file folder with an easy-to-understand report and personalized suggestions. Long distance clients receive a PDF file of their report.

If clients are already working with a naturopathic practitioner, they can take the report and continue working with them.

Step #5: Follow up, monitor progress, and make any additional changes if needed.

Follow ups are usually done in 6 to 8 weeks to quickly go over the progress. There are no charges for the first follow up.

Note: The test does not provide ancestry information or can not be used to diagnose any disease risk. The test is designed to look at the SNPs (Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs)) in genes related only to cellular functions.

Note: DNA test kits are non-refundable.
