Genetic Nutritional Analysis

Understanding the genetic makeup provides a cutting edge approach in looking at ones genetic susceptibilities or weaknesses in developing illness. DNA carries genetic information that provides instruction for synthesis of various proteins (enzymes) and nutrients which are important for critical functions in the body. These functions include healthy circulation, balanced immune system, mental/emotional health, controlling inflammation, detoxification, aging process, etc.

A variety of environmental factors (epigenetics) can influence the gene expression. Since everyone has some level of genetic variants or defect of the gene (SNP’s) in the environment provided, can switch the gene on or off. These epigenetic factors include diet, nutrient excess or deficiency, pathogens, drugs, chemical/radiation, stress, aging, etc.

To get your Genetic Nutritional Analysis done through our clinic is a very simple process. We use DNA saliva test kit called, “Your Genetic Resource™”. The saliva sample is sent to RUCDR Institute Biologics Lab in New Jersey, USA for testing. Results of the test typically take 4-6 weeks.

While waiting for results, the client will have to complete a Symptom Survey Questionnaire online. It is beneficial to have additional information through other tests. Tests such as urine organic acid test, blood tests for hormones, CBC, chemistry panels, etc. The combined information will help provide a clear understanding of the patient’s individual biochemistry and the genetic SNP’s manifestations.

While traditional genetics looks for potential disease risk, functional genetics looks at the SNP’s, epigentics, and potential impairment of function to help find the best nutritional intervention to bring the body back into balance. Our certified practitioner will look at the combined information from the DNA test, as well as various lab tests (if applicable), to create a personalized protocol. This protocol will include healthy dietary and lifestyle changes, and targeted supplementation to compensate for the genetic variants to help you achieve your health goals.
